The Babcock Ranch Certified Vendor & Business Expo brought a large crowd to The Field House today, with residents turning out to meet local businesses and learn more about the services available throughout the community.
More than 60 local businesses were featured at the event, along with food trucks, giveaways and free samples.
Babcock News attended the expo and had the opportunity to meet and speak with several of the participating vendors. With such a large turnout and so many businesses represented, we unfortunately weren’t able to visit with everyone.
Among the local business owners we caught up with was Babcock Ranch resident Conley Black, owner of Florida Closets and More.
Black and his family moved to Babcock Ranch in 2021. After years working as a corporate homebuilding executive, he decided to make a career change after recognizing what he saw as a need for custom closet options in the rapidly growing community.
“We realized that dozens of homes a month were being built within ten minutes of us and that they all, 100% of them, just had basic wire shelving,” Black said.
Black said being a locally based business also brings a level of responsibility to the community.
“I grew up in a small town in Eastern Kentucky. I like small-town life and believe that the local businesses play a big part in the success of a small town,” Black said. “Plus, if everyone knows us and can find us, it creates accountability for us and our team.”
Florida Closets and More now serves customers throughout Southwest Florida, while Black says the company remains focused on its Babcock Ranch neighbors and involvement in the local community.
Thank you to the vendors who took the time to speak with us and to everyone who attended the event.
