Meet Hailey Herren, a full time college student who will graduate from Babcock High School. An aspiring writer, Hailey dreams of traveling to the United Kingdom to study the history of Gothic literature and visit the locations connected to its stories and authors.
To help turn that dream into a reality, Hailey is seeking financial support to make the study abroad trip possible. In her own words, Hailey shares what this opportunity means to her and her efforts to raise the funds needed to make the journey.

I am raising money to help make my upcoming study abroad trip to the United Kingdom
possible. During this trip, I will have the opportunity to study the history of Gothic literature and
visit the places that helped shape the stories and writers behind this genre. As a college student
and aspiring writer, this experience means so much more to me than simply traveling. It is an
opportunity to connect my education with the career I hope to build.
Writing has always been a passion of mine. Whether I am creating stories, analyzing literature,
or simply putting my thoughts onto paper, writing is something that allows me to express myself
and connect with others. My goal is to continue developing my writing skills throughout college
and eventually turn that passion into a career. Studying Gothic literature in the United Kingdom
will give me a chance to learn outside of the classroom, experience literary history firsthand, and
find inspiration that I can carry into my own writing.
To help pay for this opportunity, I am working to raise the money myself through small business
activities and community events. One of the fundraisers I am planning is a Parents’ Night Out,
where parents can enjoy a date night while I provide childcare. I am also planning an outdoor
movie night where families can enjoy a movie under the stars while parents get some time to
themselves. These events allow me to work toward my goal while creating something enjoyable
and helpful for my community.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to experiencing this incredible
opportunity. Supporting my fundraiser means supporting not only a study abroad trip, but also a
college student who is working toward turning her passion into a future career.
I am incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to support me, attend one of my fundraising
events, or simply share my journey. This trip is a chance for me to grow as a student, a writer,
and a future professional, and I am excited to work hard to make it happen.
