October is National Bullying Prevention Month, an opportunity to raise awareness, support young people affected by bullying, and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Established by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in 2006, the campaign encourages communities to take part in bullying prevention efforts.
The blue and orange featured in Babcock News’s graphic represent colors associated with two recognized bullying-prevention campaigns and observances.
Blue is used by STOMP Out Bullying to raise awareness of bullying and cyberbullying. Its World Day of Bullying Prevention takes place on the first Monday in October — Monday, October 5, 2026 — when students, schools, organizations, and communities are encouraged to wear blue.
Orange is associated with PACER’s Unity Day, the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, people are encouraged to wear and share orange as a visible message of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Ribbons and clothing offer a visible way to show support and start conversations. That message can continue through everyday actions: including someone who feels left out, listening to concerns, and encouraging children to seek help from a trusted adult.
Families, educators, and residents can find activities and educational resources through PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and bullying-prevention information through StopBullying.gov.
The month’s message extends beyond October: everyone can play a role in building a community where children feel welcomed and supported.
