UPDATE: MORE THAN 1,100 VOTES CAST IN BABCOCK RANCH FAMILY’S $10,000 CHARITY GIVEBACK

The Babcock Ranch family planning to donate $10,000 from the sale of their Edgewater Shores home to area nonprofits has received a strong response from the community, with 1,173 votes cast online over the past two weeks.

Babcock News previously reported that Armen Kabodian and his family plan to divide the $10,000 among 11 nonprofit organizations serving the Babcock Ranch area.

Online voting officially ended Tuesday, October 6. Because of the amount of community interest, the family has decided to offer one final opportunity to vote in person during an Open House this weekend.

The Open House will be held at the family’s home at 16005 Shoreline Drive in Edgewater Shores:

Saturday, October 10: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, October 11: Noon – 5 p.m.

After the Open House concludes Sunday, all voting will close.

Kabodian said the nonprofit currently in first place has received approximately 31% of the votes cast so far.

Under the family’s donation plan, the 11 Babcock Ranch-area nonprofits receiving the most votes will each receive $500.

One of those organizations will ultimately receive an additional $4,500, bringing its total donation to $5,000. The family that purchases the Edgewater Shores home will make the final decision on which of the selected organizations receives the $5,000 total donation.

The Kabodian family plans to announce the 11 selected nonprofits on October 24, with additional details to come.

Sebastian, the Babcock News weatherman, will have the honor of announcing the selected organizations.

Babcock News will continue following the family’s charitable initiative and will share the results with the community.
